Dream a dream
I always knew I wanted to be a journalist. With my first byline secured at a local newspaper, aged just 16, it was all the confirmation I needed that a career in publishing was worth pursuing.
I was fresh out of university when I landed a full-time job as a Features Writer for a group of regional lifestyle magazines. During this time, I interviewed and met inspiring individuals, visited beautiful destinations, dined at incredible restaurants and experienced opportunities that don’t come around very often. Flying a helicopter is certainly up there as one of the best!
Several years later, curious as to what else the publishing industry had to offer beyond magazines, I moved into the world of academic publishing. Here, I worked my way up the ranks for a scholarly publisher of journals and books.
Content is king
I established ES Editorial in 2014. I’m not going to lie, there was no plan. I’d been offered a role as a freelance Digital Editor and picked up other bits of work along the way. However, it soon became apparent I was doing what I loved – writing for innovative businesses with a story to tell!
Now, with 11 years’ professional publishing experience, I support businesses in Yorkshire and beyond, with their written content requirements. I act as an outsourced copywriter for those who don’t have the time, knowledge or creativity to create regular, original and compelling content.
One day I can be editing property descriptions for a luxury holiday company and the next, devising a content plan for a fashion retailer. I also continue to write for a number of magazines, providing editorial features for digital and print publications.
